I have always been "infected," as one could say, with the call of the cowboy lifestyle. The sight of horses thundering through a pasture, the smell of leather & fresh-cut hay, & the sound of spurs jingling as you walk—these things fill this lil drifter's soul with happiness.
When I was trying to come up with a name for Dice House, I was, of course, racking my brain for something that fit with my love for the western industry. I scoured the internet in search of inspiration. I found this little website, CowboyQuotes.org, & there was an article called "Top 100 Cowboy Expressions & Wild West Slang Phrases."
Here are a few of my favorites:
1. Above Snakes- Being above ground; alive.
4. Acknowledge the Corn- To confess the truth.
21. Bee in your Bonnet- A good idea.
40. Desert Canary- A donkey.
48. Flannel Mouth- A smooth talker.
54. Give the Mitten- When a woman rejects a man.
56. Hair in the Butter- To be stuck in a tricky situation.
65. In Apple Pie Order- To be in top shape or high quality.
88. Ten-Cent Man- A short-sighted or narrow-minded man.
Coming in at number 42 was "Dice House- Bunkhouse; sleeping quarters." I knew right away that was the name, it was gritty enough to fit into my western grunge style & unique enough to set me apart from other vintage western shops, & thus, Dice House was born!
I want Dice House to be so much more than just a place for you to come shop, I want it to be an experience. I want to build an uplifting platform & community for women to feel included & inspired.
